Garden equipment, rebuild

Yesterday (Saturday) we saw a nice break in the weather (for a while) and I decided to rebuild a garden carrier that my mother uses as a trailer behind an electric scooter. I should have done a video of the whole thing, but I got so worked up that it just slipped my mind. I’m not finished with the project, so I’m grabbing the camera today because we see good weather today as well and there’s enough work left to make a video.

I snapped some pictures right as I ended yesterday, because I had to go out and buy some new parts. The image on the lower right shows the chaos that was at Biltema (Scandinavian warehouse chain) and I actually had to park the car and walk the rest of the way there! On my way back home, the weather changed and we saw some surprise showers that ended the work outside for the day.

The problem with the “trailer” was that one of the wheel guides had broken clean off and needed to be welded back together. I only have a crappy flux core welder, and haven’t welded in many years, but I actually think I got it sorted well enough. (I’m saving up for a new and eons better welder, with shielding gas!)

I invested in a new welding helmet that has auto dark. All I’ve ever used prior is that type that’s always dark and you have to lift to see anything when not welding. I think it cost something like ~$45 (450NOK) and I a so pleased!! It did the job excellent and is now my go-to helmet.

Todays todo list is: New tires, handle swap and misc straightening. It’s Sunday so I don’t start until after 12:00, just because I have to make some noise doing this.

Bad weather!

I am just enough of a couch potato, that when it’s bad weather I’m inside 😂 I wish I was outside, because I want to flip the bikes I picked up the other day, but it’s cold and damp and I’m instead watching learning videos when I’m not working my day job.

There hasn’t been any good items up for grabs either, so I haven’t been out for a pickup since the bikes. There was two tillers up for sale, but I didn’t catch any of them until someone else had picked them up… There are loads of items listed every day, but nothing that I can make an easy profit on. Chairs, tables, couches, misc. kitchen items, and so much more, but; Not for me.

Just checked the forecast for tomorrow (which is a Holliday) and it just might be enough of a clear up that I could venture outside and have a gander on the bikes. Let’s hope so!

Quality

I went an did it… I splurged on a new camera for my videos. Having used a camcorder up until now, this time I went DSLR which I’ve wanted to do for some time now. I used to be really into photography and have an early Canon EOS 400D, with no video options.

For once, I did a lot of research, and landed on Canon EOS 70D or 700D hopefully the former. The store didn’t have a 70 in stock, and I didn’t want to wait for them to order and get one, so I ended up with a 700D, which covers all my needs.

More in depth post as soon as I’ve used it a bit, and can say I have an honest opinion.

Additions

I have been looking to add to my camera gear for a good while now. Having used my simple Canon Legria (something) as my one and only video camera, I wanted to add one more. This time, I wanted a camera that offered the ability of an external microphone. Of all the endless cameras I have looked at, only the high-end video cameras and some semi-high-end DSLR’s offered this. Stopped by one of my regular shops today, and I came across the Canon (I’m a huge canon fan) EOS M.  Continue reading “Additions”
