Do you, like me, dabble in reselling items you’ve bought and have heard of Gary Vaynerchuk’s #Fliplife and the reselling community? Well, here is a treat: I am a member of a Discord server (link to join here) where we discuss deals and share insight.
The server is run by some really nice people and they’re always there to help you in any way they can. There is also premium content there, more precise they have bots that continuously monitor and pump out deals from (for now) US sites and eBay. If we can get enough international members, there will be added international sites to said monitors and we will see international deals.
The premium content has a price, but if you join and contact me, the owners have been so kind and given me a number of license keys for me to give out to new members. This will give you premium content for free, for a period, to check out everything.
The server itself is free and we interact, chat, share and discuss just about everything.
Why don’t you come join us and see how you like it?
I have been thinking of a helping tool for my mother, to use in the garden. A tool to pull behind an electric scooter, that rakes the freshly cut grass.
Felt a little better today, and seeing as how there are no flea markets or sales to source flips, I decided to start this project. I had previously purchased two rakes and a plate that I cut to length. Normally I would have used hearing protection and I sort of did. I recently bought a pair of Levity Exosphere Fitness Premiums and wanted to try them out. Connected to iPod via Bluetooth and straight in the ear, no wires.
Worked so well, this is my new protection and also accompanying me when I’m sourcing, photographing, listing and packing up flips and other sales.
The rake is going to be heavy, and I have bought 8mm rebar to use as a shaft. It might be a little on the small side, seeing as I bought a 10mm thick, 100mm wide plate (about 800mm long) to fasten the two rake heads on. That thing is heavier than I thought it was. Tomorrow is Sunday, but I might try and get it finished (I’m about half done) after 12 some time. But it is hot outside, and I am struggling with some blood pressure issues, because of a change in medication. Wednesday I had a serious drop in blood pressure followed by a racing pulse. The doc came to our house to see me, and told me to take it slow and keep monitoring my BP. I am normally very stable at 120/80 and a pulse of around 70-80. Since Wed. I have measured anywhere from 124/75 down to 100/71 with pulse varying from 84 to almost 150!! That had me worried, but I got it back down later. I’m not going to work very hard in this warm weather, because of the issues, but I am flipping anything and everything I can.
I am trying to be more present on eBay, you can visit my page here. Lately I’m in a retro/vintage/bijoux/jewelry/silver mood and have listed some items in those categories.
I keep reading about other flippers going to garage- /yard sales and having ample venues to source their inventory. I; have the odd thrift shop and the free section on #FinnNO http://finn.no/ Don’t get me wrong, I have gotten great items from Finn, but lately not much has popped up in my area. Had to have driven a while to pick stuff up.
I can’t wait for this Covid-19 thing to be “over” and society gets back in action. I want to visit flea markets and for people to list back to normal again.
It’s been raining for some days now, but finally stopped and the forecast is for better weather. It’s still to wet outside to do anything really, but it is drying up. Since I bought the new welder and gas tank and up until now, I have been lugging both things by hand (to my backs dismay) outside. Yesterday I figured: NO MORE! I have been looking at a welding cart online and finally went and bought it. It comes, assembly required, and I spent a good half hour on that yesterday morning. I was also struggling with a migraine but managed to pull through though.
I have started decorating my helmet with stickers, so if you have some you want to send me, I’d very much appreciate it! Get in touch: firstname.lastname@example.org.
On the flip side, I got rid of a bike and let it go for ~$60. It was used like twice and then stored inside for years, so I just let it go. Haven’t picked up anything in days now, but I have started listing some items back on eBay again, link to my eBay store. I only wish shipping outside of Norway (and inside too…) wasn’t so expensive. It makes selling items to the world hard, because of the price.
Since I can’t go out welding, I have started thinking about projects I’m doing once I can, and today I started a project I thought of while in bed the other night. I struggle to sleep and often lay awake for hours before finally falling asleep. I don’t have too much material I can use yet, as I’ve just started thinking about these things, but I did pick up some stainless steel wire I wanted to use.
A clipper, a plier, a bolt and some wire – Turns into something winged. I’m not sure I can manage to weld this up with my current skill level, but it sure will be fun to try 😆 . The wings are getting more embellishment also, but I won’t do that until the welder is out.
Got ideas for me? Leave me a comment below or send me an e-mail (address above).
We needed a bit of rain now, the fire hazard was huge and the plants were drying out. However, as I don’t yet have my inside workspace, I am stuck inside and can’t bring the ideas I have to life.
Instead though, I am taking the time after my day job to search for flips and listing flips online. I posted about some DVDs I got for free and haven’t yet gone through all of them. I did find two items I now have listed on my eBay store! Chris Rock, Bigger Blacker and the action movie Wanted! Both are listed as auctions, and both start at just $1. I also listed a Kodak EK160-EF instant camera, starting at just $9.
First time in almost a year that I’ve listed something on eBay. I think I might start using eBay more the coming time, as the international market is way bigger than posting for Norwegians on Finn.no… Facebook Marketplace is another option I’m considering, and I might try a project of matching them against each other.
Now I want the rain to cease and the temperature in the range of 15 deg. C. That way I can get outside and take apart the things I need to in order to create the things I have in mind.
I was complaining earlier about it being a bit cold to stand and work/weld outside, but now it’s just the opposite.. Today it’s in the high 20’s maybe over 30 in the sun (degrees C), and I haven’t done much of anything outside. I wanted to locate my big vice and set it up on my table, and did so this morning (before the sun was all out blazing). Got my tools together and placed/drilled the holes, taking care to include the metal plate under the vice to ground it, but wouldn’t you know… I was all out of the right size bolts to fasten it correctly 😢
I am a wheeler dealer, and when ever I can make a few bucks, I take it. I found a listing for 4 boxes of DVDs and was lucky enough to be first in line. Wasn’t more than a few kilometers from me, so easy going. Picked them up and selected between 80-100 movies and series (including a complete set of unopened Red Dwarf) and put the remaining 112 DVDs up for sale. I’m not asking much, as it’s a huge variety of titles, from thrillers, comedy, slapstick, action. Both movies and series.
Tomorrow is work again, and I have a doctors appointment in the early afternoon. Getting better for every week that goes by 😃 😀
I visited a used & antiques store on Saturday, picking up a variety of materials and tool for a very cheap price. It’s not tools I’m going to use, but it’s for art and sculpting. I have a boatload of ideas, but need the welder to do 99% of them. Hopefully it’s not direct sun on my work space in the afternoon, after my day job. Pictures to come 😉
The rototiller project is officially: No more! I just sold the motor for a profit and I will re-list the tiller base a little later. The Gudenaa mower I picked for free also sold today, and is being picked up tomorrow. Now I have to get going welding up the other mowers I have!
Our property is infested with voles, mice and what-not; leaving tunnels and holes all over the place. We have just staked out some frequency oscillators that are supposed to help get rid of everything like this in the ground and surface. I also bought a couple of live traps that I’ve set out, but they have only caught 1 in 3 days. The latching mechanism needs adjusting or modifying, because the last two days the bait has been stolen and the traps were not set off.
I have set the live catch traps, because I don’t mind relocating them in stead of destroying them. The one I have caught was released close to one of the oscillators, to see the effect. The mouse seemed to be disorientated and I guess that’s exactly what it’s supposed to do.
The mower is started and has been used to cut grass 😃 It runs great and cuts perfect. The only issue has been the throttle lever that’s busted off, but here is a quick (and sort of redneck) fix of that.
A drill, a drywall screw and a piece of epoxy putty, and 24 hours of curing. Problem solved.
Here is a video of this process and below is yesterdays upload of the starting and cutting of grass. The collection is working great and now the throttle lever is fixed. I think I might have to look at the drive, as it didn’t do the job all the while cutting, but I’ll have a look.
Today is a quiet day, normally, and I am not playing with any motorized equipment. Had to do something though, so decided to assemble a work table I bought the other day. It’s one of those simple and small, raise/lower (manually), tables that has room for tools.
15 minutes and the thing was together, didn’t even need the guide 👅 One of our neighbors decided to start the chainsaw and do some yard work, and I figured what the heck.. I’ll pull on the recently added mower! I pulled twice to see that it turned and had compression and then primed the carb like 4 times. Two more pulls and the thing fired right up 🔥 Ran impressively clean and silent and the self propelling worked like a charm. All that’s really wrong is the gas lever is broken, but I have a quick fix for that in mind (video coming real soon).
Once I’ve cleaned out the grass and dirt that was in the mower and collector, and given it a nice power wash; I’ll list it for sale at like ~$110 or so and accept a tad lower if offered 💵
A preface; I suffer from tough migraines, and today was not a good day. I did work my day job, but had to lie down after, to recoup. A couple of hours rest and I felt like doing a simple afternoon project.
A while back (before the big Covid outbreak) I picked up a kitchen table with extensions, to use as a work bench/surface. A couple of weeks back I also picked up a 1m x 1m sheet of cold rolled steel, to use in projects. Now, because of the new welder, I decided I wanted to have a metal surface/work bench to use as a welding table, and this was right in my mind. Had to cut a bit off the sheet, but an angle grinder and a cut off wheel did that job easy.
All in all I spent under 30 minutes on this, and now I have a great working surface to also weld on. The table can no longer “fold” together, but I don’t mind. Not in my use anyways.
Right now, I sitting here waiting for a confirmation on a new pickup it looks like I scored. It was listed for free, I jumped right on it, but the seller said it was gone in under a minute. Then, while working on the table, I got a message “He reconsidered and didn’t want it. You still interested?”. I answered Yes right away, but for almost an hour now there’s not been a confirmation. Might have to wait and pick up tomorrow, or I might have to pass as well ✋
Update; Got the go-ahead to pick up the mower, an address about 25 minutes from me. Was told it was set outside the gate, and to just pick it up. Drove to where the GPS told me, but couldn’t find a house number and certainly no mower outside a gate. A BIG drive around to get back into this one way street, and by chance I saw a guy with a mower that matched the pictures… Stopped and sure enough, it was the one.
The guy told me it was one that was left at the house he bought, and that he had put fresh gas in it and pulled, but no luck. That’s fine and dandy and I can’t wait to dig in. Now, tomorrow is Ascension Day, so no day job and probably no noisy work outside (no starting of mower) but I might just do some welding, because the weather has warmed up nice 😃
So.. As you might have read before, I am always on the lookout for new (and free) stuff. Any time something that catches my eye appears, I jump on it. Yesterday was May 17th (Norways Constitution Day) and not much was posted. Today has been a bit better, but still quiet though. One ad was for two kids bikes and I was first in line 😊 I haven’t really gone over them yet, but the once over of breaks and gears seems fine. A wash and a bit of lube and they’re out for sale. Flipping is a thing for me.
This is what I have out, and I also have my “boneyard” where I have some old lawnmowers and engines, but they’re overgrown and in desperat need of repair. IF ONLY THE WEATHER WOULD WARM UP!!! It is forecast warmer to the end of the week though, so could be better. I want to test my new welder, but it’s still a bit too 🥶
